Although I had taken the photos on a white background, the colour white did not come out as bright as I hoped it would. So I started by colouring in the background. This meant I had to colour the chairs in as well, which then made the arm stretched out look out of place so I coloured that in with the white too. My double page spread has a black and white theme, so therefore I wanted my photos to be in black and white too. My next step was then to desaturate the image. I could then use the History brush tool to restore the colour of the lipstick and sharpen it. The red lipstick also fits in with the colour scheme, which is why I wanted this colour to show through. The last thing I did was to play with the brightness and contrast to finish.

Editing:
I wanted both of my images to look the same, so I did the same editing to both. I began by Removing the background and making it a bright, pure white. I then desaturated the image and used the History brush tool to restore the colour of her lipstick and then I sharpened the colour so that it is a brighter red. Lastly, I adjusted the brightness and contrast of the image to give it a final touch.
