Contents Page - Layout

When designing the layout of the contents page of my music magazine, I wanted it to be completely different to ones I have seen before. Therefore, I did not want the Contents title across the top of the page, I did not want a long list of pages down the left hand side and I did not want big pictures in the middle. When researching Contents pages, I began to realise how they all looked the same and most of the layouts were the same too, with the odd exception. So this is how I decided to design my layout, by not using the features that are always used.

Real Magazine Contents Pages

As you can see these two magazine contents pages are very similar. I wanted my magazine to be different to the regular layouts that current music magazines seem to always use. This is why I designed the layout of my contents page to be like this:

The title 'Contents' will be positioned down the left hand side of the page, the different pages in the magazine and page numbers will be positioned in the middle of the page but not in a straight line instead they will position around the images which will be evenly sized and spaced down the right hand side of the page. Their will be three medium sized images with black or white borders around them. The title colour will be red with alternate black or white borders to match the images, the page numbers and different pages will also alternate between the colour red, black and white and the background will be grey. All of these colours are a theme throughout my magazine and therefore represents house style.
