Evaluation - Question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
After looking at different media publising websites I finally discovered two media instituions that might distribute my media product. These were IPC Media and Bauer Media. IPC Media was the first website I looked at, the reasons I had for choosing this institution are that they reach two thirds of women and only 44% of men and in total has 27 million users. My magazine is mainly targetted for women so I thought this would be ideal. They also produce very well known magazines such as; NME, Chat, Look, Now and Women, these are only 5 out of 85 iconic media brands.
My reasons for choosing Bauer Media as the company that would distribute my magazine however, were that they have has much more experience with publishing music magazines, for example, Kerrang, Pop, Mojo and Q. They also have experience with popular RnB radio stations and TV music programs such as; Kiss 100, The Hits, The Box, 4Music and Heat. They are one of the larget privately owned publishing group in Europe that offer 230 magazines in 15 different countries. They are specialists in magazines, TV, radio, online and digital. It is also a sister company of H Bauer which publish well known magazines such as; Take a Break and Bella.

However, they do not currently have a popular RnB styled magazine and I think this company would benefit greatly by publishing mine because there would be an opening for one.

Bauer Published Magazines

My Magazine

There are similarities between the three magazines, it is mainly the colour schemes. They all use Red, White, Black and Grey. The Q magazines have a bigger range of genre when considering the featured artists in the magazines however, women solo artists is a big similarity with these three magazines. The also all have decorative strips at the bottom, similar layouts and the circular sticker with writing inside. Q is the main inspiration for me choosing Bauer Media to publish my media product.
